Why should I train in first aid?
There are many reasons why it is important to train in first aid. Most people come on first aid training courses because they have been sent by their workplace, or they need a valid certificate to keep other qualifications valid, but there are lots of other benefits too:
- Being prepared for emergencies: By learning first aid, you will have the knowledge and skills to provide immediate care and treatment in the event of an emergency, whether it's a minor injury or a serious medical condition. This can help to prevent the situation from getting worse and can even save lives.
- Confidence and peace of mind: Knowing what to do in an emergency can help you to stay calm and think clearly. This can give you the confidence to take action and provide the necessary care, even in a stressful situation
- Helping others: First aid training allows you to help others in need. You can assist friends, family, colleagues, and even strangers in an emergency situation.
- Legal and professional obligation: For some individuals and organisations, first aid training is a legal or professional obligation. For example, it is a legal requirement for all registered childcare providers and workplaces to have a certain number of employees trained in first aid.
- Personal and professional development: Training in first aid can improve your personal and professional development, giving you a sense of accomplishment and a new skill that may come in handy in your personal or professional life.
As well as being a legal or professional obligation first aid training can help you save lives, maintain calm and provide care and support to others in an emergency, and can improve your personal and professional development.
