On Mon and Tue we held a two day Forest School Outdoor First Aid course for Carpenters Residents and other people that work or live locally. It was fantastic! We had five residents and four other local people that work at city farms and community gardens. Food for both days was supplied by local resident Muna, who would like to be a full time caterer but has caring responsibilities. The Dovetail room was provided for free by Populo Living, and the Carpenters and Docklands centre kindly hosted the Dovetail's keep fit-class.

Participants all got to know each other and all gained:

* Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) certificate which is a requirement by OFSTED for EYFS,
AND a
* ITC Forest School First Aid certificate.

Thank you LLDC for funding this much appreciated, very enjoyable, CV enhancing and potentially life-saving training.

ITC Forest School Outdoor First Aid with Paediatric training - Sept '22

What happens on an outdoor first aid course? The Wild Native.

We thought the 1st Aid Training was excellent.  The content was good and it was delivered in such a way that was easy to understand. The equipment was all in good working order. The instructor was friendly but firm. He made people feel relaxed and at ease. Everyone took part, it was fun and informative.

We all filled in an assessment form at the end of the course. Thanks for organising it, Joanna. Definitely a company to recommend.

The University of Birmingham has a program where final year physiotherapy students act as pitchside first aid providers for the elite university teams competing in the BUCS league.

As a top sporting University, there are many national and international athletes who are part of these teams so the welfare services provided for these players has to be professional and of a very high standard  

React First started to provide our the first aid training six years ago to the students and I have found them to be an excellent organisation. Having used a couple of other first aid training organisations previously, the difference in the quality of training provided by React First was evident.

The teaching is enthusiastic and engaging but no compromise is accepted on professional standards and required knowledge. Importantly, they will fail people taking the course if they are not at the required standard.

The sport and exercise science department at the University of Birmingham is consistently ranked in the top 4 sports science departments in the world and thus the quality systems for working with outside organisations is rigorous. The relationship we have developed with React First enable us to trust them to teach in our world leading programmes; we are so pleased with the provision of training, that we are now investigating how some of the other training programs provided by React First may become embedded in the teaching curriculum for the spots science students.

Many students who have done the training have successfully managed serious medical emergencies and the provision they provide to the University teams is highly valued by the coaches and the athletes.

I aim to continue working with React First as the quality of the course provided has consistently remained excellent. In addition, they are also very friendly and well run organisation and communication with them is efficient. I would happily recommend them to any organisation that requires professional delivered high standard first aid training.

 We have been using React First for a many years now. Our employees have done ITC LEVEL 3 Award in Emergency First Aid At Work and our experience has been really good.

Michelle is our contact person at React First and she is always very helpful, we have had a couple of different trainers and they are also very sympathetic, flexible and helpful. Any time we need a First Aid Course we always think about React First. Great service and great team! 

 I just wanted to send a quick email to say how brilliant the Fitness Sports First Aid course was on Saturday. Maxine really was great, and the breadth of the course was way above what I expected, not just your basic common sense applying a plaster. I learnt some really valuable skills, which hopefully I will never have to use, but great to know. Was shocking how much I did not know prior to the cause, but no question was a stupid question.

 I just want to say a huge thank you for getting me onto the Youth Mental Health First Aid course with Jo. You're right it is brilliant!  I have to say I learned so much and came away believing that is probably one of the most important courses I've ever attended.

Outside of Covid pandemic I work a lot as an Expedition guide. We are seeing more and more young people turning up with mental health issuses and as an IML I'm not trained to deal with the situations in the best way to help these young people. So this course is perfect in the development of what I do.

  The course was absolutely amazing!!! Lizzy was incredible and we learnt a lot. I really liked how she related it to us as a youth charity so scenarios were more relevant. After speaking to the others, everyone said that they loved it.

  I would like to thank you for the first aid course you guys carried out on the 25th March. I have done a lot of first aid courses covering different industries and departments and I would like to praise Denis.  As I have done so many I normal switch off but he kept everyone on it engaged, with a sense of humour and even under this pandemic it was amazing. Covering different ages we were all interested and he even joined in with some of the banter which I love! 

 We use React First for all our front of house, fitness instructors and personal trainers, they keep the course fresh and informative even if you're just refreshing your first aid certificates, can't recommend them enough! 

The course was fantastic. Jenny (the other one) was brilliant and took the course at a great pace, made it relevant to the coaches and ensured that we all had a full understanding before moving on with different topics. We would recommend her highly! Thanks for your help with organising the course. I will be sure to pass your details to our other members with a recommendation.

The outdoor first aid course I attended with Joe was the best one I had ever attended, I was a police officer for nearly 40 years so have attended many others. I left yours feeling really confident about dealing with any future first aid incidents.
